IT Officials Raid Former Union Minister Chidamram’s Relatives’ Company in Kodagu

Madikeri: Income Tax (IT) officials raided 11 properties of SLN Group located in Kushalnagar of Kodagu district, Karnataka state on Wednesday. The company is owned and run by Vishwanathan and Sathappan, the son in laws of former union finance minister P Chidambaram. The raid began at around 08.00 AM and continued till late evening and the IT officials reportedly obtained secret information on all the properties owned by the duo.

The officials arrived by over 50 vehicles and the vehicle which was leading other vehicles was decorated with flowers, bouquet, garland and others exhibiting it as a vehicle of a marriage party. Other two to three vehicles following the main innova car were also decorated with flowers. The IT department succeeded to keep information on its operation till the last minute as the decoration of the vehicles didn’t reveal anything to the locals and others.

The officials were successfully in raiding 11 offices of the company located at various locations in and near Kushalnagar. The raid was conducted on the locations including, coffee curing unit, offices of instant coffee units, timber yard, petrol bunks, luxury hotel, Purple View and residences of Vishwanathan and Sathappan. The raid was conducted with the support of a police team accompanied with the IT officers from Mysuru.  According to the reports, the IT department carried out the operation on the basis of information obtained after a raid on the residence of Chidambaram’s son, Karthi recently.
