IT raid on businessman, politician continues for the second day

Udupi: Income Tax officials, who began raids on houses and offices of businessman, politician Muniyalu Uday Kumar Shetty on Wednesday January 23 are continuing their raids for the second day in a row.
The officials, reportedly gained entry into Uday Shetty’s house claiming that they were creating awareness on monkey fever.
Simultaneous raids were conducted at the residences, a cashew factory at Muniyalu and a fish mill located at Kota belonging to Shetty and scrutiny of documents is ongoing.
Apart from him, raids were also conducted at the house and offices of a crusher owner, identified as Joy on Wednesday.
Meanwhile it is said that two senior Congress leaders from the district, who are unhappy with the popularity of Shetty are behind this sudden raid at his house.
Shetty is aspiring for a Congress ticket in the upcoming Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha election, it is said.
