IT sleuths arrive in wedding car bearing ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge stickers’, seize benami assets worth Rs 390 crores

The Income tax department has seized unaccounted assets worth Rs 390 crores following raids at multiple locations in Maharastra’s Jalna.

The raids were launched last week on the Jalna-based business entities, that are engaged in steel and real estate after actionable inputs of alleged tax evasion were received against it, officials said on Thursday.

As per reports, officers have seized Rs 56 crore in cash,  32 kg of gold jewellery, diamond and pearl jewellery worth Rs 16 crore during the raid. Documents and digital data had also been seized.

Five teams comprising 260 officials from across the state had been formed and over 120 vehicles were used in the operation, officials said.

As per a Zee News report, the income tax sleuths had arrived in a wedding car bearing ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge stickers’ to conduct the raid.
