Bengaluru: Nearly a month after a huge controversy erupted over naming of the Yelahanka flyover in Bengaluru after Veer Savarkar, the BBMP has decided to name the flyover after the revolutionary freedom fighter.
The decision was taken during the monthly council meeting of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Tuesday June 30.
Amid the naming row, the BBMP had sought public response and out of the 111 responses that were received, 106 were in favor of naming the flyover after Veer Savarkar.
Muneendra Kumar, leader of the ruling party in the BBMP said that the inaugural date for the flyover will be fixed by Yelahanka MLA within a week.
