Mangaluru: Beary Academy chief Rahim Uchil on Tuesday, March 29 said that it is wrong to feed Halal food to people of other religions.
“Halal is particularly associated with Islamic dietary laws and especially meat processed and prepared in accordance with those requirements. However, feeding Halal food to people of other religions is wrong.”
He further added that Halal is a practice where the animals are slaughtered in the name of ‘Allah’ and it becomes permissible to consume halal, it was stated many years ago and will continue till the world comes to an end.
“There is no force, if people of other regions are interested in consuming, they can buy Halal meat or they can opt for normal meat, it is their choice,” he said.
Leaders of all religions should come together to discuss the misunderstanding created about the matter, said Rahim.
Rahim’s comments came after right-wing outfits had called for a boycott and banning of Halal products and said Hindus celebrating Ugadi in South Karnataka should buy meat only in Hindu shops and should not go to Muslim shops.
