Ivan D’Souza ready to contest next Lok Sabha election

Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D’Souza has expressed his aspiration for a ticket in the upcoming Lok Sabha election to contest from the Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency in the Congress high command will allow him to contest.
Mr Ivan addressed ht media on Saturday at his office and said, “I have already approached the Congress high command and sought the ticket for the Lok Sabha election. Since I have delivered what was expected of me as a MLC and I am confident of winning the election.”
“The population of the minority is one of the deciding factors in winning the election and the Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency has more voters from Christian community. Therefore, I have informed the high command of the prevailing situation. However I’ll abide by their decision,” said Ivan.
To a question on former union minister B Janardhana Poojary’s willingness to contest in the election, Ivan said, “If Poojary wishes to contest in the election; he also has the right to seek a ticket, being a senior leader of the Congress party. As Christian voters are more here, I am preparing to contest.”
