International Yoga Day is held on June 21 annually, since 2015, to raise awareness about the advantages of yoga. PM Narendra Modi presented the concept of International Yoga Day during his speech to the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014.
Leading the main event of the eighth International Day of Yoga on the premises of the ‘Amba Vilas Palace’ in Mysuru, Modi said Yoga brings peace to our universe and gives the hope of a healthy life to humanity.
Yoga is a centuries-old Indian practise that promotes mental and social health. The word ‘yoga’ comes from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj,’ which represents the union of body and mind. Yoga isn’t only about asanas. It’s a key to unleashing our limitless potential and power. Yoga is a popular practise all over the world due to its numerous advantages.
Some of the most famous yoga asanas are as follows:
The Crane pose
The Crane position, also known as Bakasana in hatha yoga and contemporary yoga, is a balanced asana. This balancing stance stretches your upper back while opening up your hips and groins. It is not recommended for novices due to its intricacy. The Crane pose develops shoulder stabilisers and strengthens wrists.
Sirasana
In classical hatha yoga, Sirsasana, also known as Salamba Shirshasana or Yoga Headstand, is an inverted asana that is classified as both an asana and a mudra. This is a well-known cooling posture. This is the ideal stress-relieving pose, but mastering it takes a lot of effort.
Pashchimottanasana
Pashchimottanasana or seated front bend, is also known as Intense Dorsal Stretch. In hatha yoga and contemporary yoga, it is a seated forward-bending asana. Many yoga practitioners go over this essential stance. This pose improves physical flexibility while also calming the mind.
Dhanurasana
In hatha yoga and contemporary yoga, this is a back-bending asana. Dhanurasana tones and strengthens the leg and arm muscles while stretching the foot and hand muscles. This asana relieves stress, anxiety, and weariness when done on a regular basis. According to experts, this also aids in the reduction of depressive symptoms.
Trikonasana
The Triangle Pose is another name for it. This is one of the most advantageous positions for boosting your immune system. It makes your arms, legs, ankles, and chest stronger. It improves blood circulation, digestion, fat burning, and mental clarity. Keep your eyes open while performing, and do it first thing in the morning if possible.
Yoga has a number of health benefits, including increased flexibility, stamina, immune system strength, and heart health. It is one of the most well-known forms of physical activity. It does not necessitate the use of any heavy tools or a trip to the gym. This is a simple home remedy that not only keeps you well but also strengthens your spiritual, physical, and immune systems. Improve your immune system by learning asanas.
