Jammu: The police arrested five persons and rescued 15 bovines as they foiled two bovine smuggling bids in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, an official said today.
A Police party during checking at Manjakote here in the district intercepted a vehicle that was on its way to Kashmir last night, the police officer said.
Police rescued 8 bovines, seized the vehicle and booked two persons identified as Mohmmad Hanif and Showkat Hussain, he said, adding that a case has been registered and investigation was underway.
In a separate incident, the police foiled another smuggling bid and rescued 7 bovines at Manjakote only. Two persons, identified as Abdul Rehman and Mukhtair Ahmed, were arrested, the official said.
“A case has been registered and police is investigating the matter for further details”, he said.
