Bengaluru: A committee headed by a former IAS officer, Vinay Kumar looked into alleged irregularities in the Bengaluru Central Prisons at Parappana Agrahara and submitted a 2000-page enquiry report to the state government.
Vinay Kumar met chief secretary Subhash Chandra Khuntia on October 21 and submitted a 2000-page enquiry report.
Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy and Chief Secretary Subhash Chandra Kuntia confirmed that former IAS officer Vinay Kumar, who looked into the allegations, submitted the report recently. Reddy and Kuntia said they are yet to look into the report.
“I collected information, questioned several people and finalised the report,” Kumar told.
However, he refused to divulge details of the report and said that authorities concerned would act on the report.
Sources said the committee did not look into allegations made against the then Prisons Department head as there was no substance in those allegations. It, however, is said to have found that VVIP prisoners were indeed given special treatment, but that was in accordance with the law.
