Mangaluru: Former union minister and veteran Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary visited the Kudroli Sri Gokarnatheshwara on Sunday, October 10, and greeted the devotees on the occasion of auspicious Mangaluru “Dasara Mahotsava.”
The 10-day Mangaluru Dasara festivities had begun on October 7 at Kudroli temple.
Speaking to the gathering after offering prayers, he said that the pandemic has given a serious blow to people but they bravely facing these difficulties.
He also called on the devotees who visit the temple to strictly follow the Covid-19 guidelines. “The devotees have adhered to the guidelines issued so far. I urge everyone who comes for the ‘Darshan’ of the deity to follow the strict guidelines in the future too,” he said and wished for the choicest blessings of God on everyone.
The veteran Congress leader had played a key role in the renovation of the temple and commands great respect for it.
Poojary said his health condition was not very stable and that he had visited the temple to offer his devotion and prayers to the deity.
MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, MLA UT Khader, MLA Umanath Kotian, MLC Harish Kumar, Mayor Premanand Shetty, former MLC Ivan D’Souza, president of Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Kshetra H S Sairam, vice-president Urmila Ramesh Kumar, secretary B Madhava Suvarana and other functionaries of the temple were present.
