Janthakal mining scam: Interim bail granted to HD Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru: Former CM HD Kumaraswamy has been granted interim bail today in connection to the Janthakal mining scam. The former minister had filed an application before the Lokayukta special court seeking interim anticipatory bail.
IAS officer Ganga Ram Baderiya was arrested by the SIT for allowing Janthakal Enterprises to lift iron ore based on two forged letters purportedly issued by Ministry of Environment and Forest.
Baderiya is said to be the first IAS officer in the state to be arrested while still in service.
In the file noting it was stated that there was pressure from the Chief Minister to accord permit to Janthakal within two hours.
Further probe and investigations will be conducted on the incident.
