Los Angeles: Actor-filmmaker Jason Bateman has found his next directorial project in the thriller “Shut In”, set at New Line.
Bateman, who recently won the Emmy for outstanding directing for a drama series for Netflix series “Ozark”, will also produce the film, reported Deadline.
The movie is described as an edgy thriller in the vein of “Panic Room”, in which a single mother is held captive by her violent ex, with her two young children left at risk. She must do everything to protect them and survive.
Debutante writer Melanie Toast has penned the script. Negotiations are on, but sources said production is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2020.
Bateman last directed “The Family Fang” and “Bad Words”. He is also attached to direct a film based on the Hasbro board game “Clue”, featuring Ryan Reynolds at Fox/Disney.
Michael Costigan alongside Farah Films’ Dan Farah, Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Cinestate’s Dallas Sonnier are also attached to produce.
