Bengaluru: With intense negotiations in the Congress-JD(S) coalition regarding the sharing of ministerial berths and other important posts in the government and party sectors, the recent post to be discussed is that of the chairman of the Council. A senior JD(S) leader said that since the party had given the Speaker post to the Congress, it was expecting to get the post of the chairman. He said that there were several senior members in the party who were qualified and experienced to occupy the post.
“Though Congress-JD(S) alliance, which currently has 47 seats in the 75-members House, has the numbers to get the post for the alliance nominee, the elections to 11 seats from Assembly and six seats, three each from graduate and teachers’ constituencies, will have a bearing on the selection,” he added. He also said that the final decision on the matter will be taken by JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and Chief Minister designate H.D. Kumaraswamy.
