JD(S) will oppose K’taka anti-cow slaughter law: HD Deve Gowda

Bengaluru: In what could be seen as another hurdle for the BJP government in the State in passing the anti-cow slaughter law, JD(S) leader HD Devegowda has stated that his party will completely oppose the law.

“We opposed the law when the first BJP government introduced it in 2010. Now the second BJP government is again pushing the bill in the House to divide society and ruin people’s livelihoods. Hence, we will oppose the law, again,” Gowda said in a release.

The law has been passed in the State’s assembly but could not be passed in the Legislative Council. A one-day session of the Council has been called on December 15, where the bill will be presented along with the no-confidence motion against the chairman of the Council.
