JD(S) worker chops off Congress worker’s arm with machete in Gauribidanur

Chikkaballapura: A JD(S) worker chopped off Congress party worker S Ravikumar’s left arm. The incident took place on Thursday at a saree distribution event in Gauribidanur taluk.
A saree distribution campaign was going on at Arkunda village of Manchehalli. The JD(S) and Congress workers had a conflict over an issue of election malpractices. The conflict turned violent when Lokesh grabbed a machete and chopped off Ravikumar’s left arm.
The event was being held under the sponsorship of Chikkaballapur MLA Dr. Sudhar Sai’s Charitable Trust. When the Congress leaders Srinivasa Reddy, Devaraj, S Ravikumar and Narayanaswamy were going door-to-door distributing sarees to women, Lokesh attacked them in front of Ravikumar’s house.
JD(S) members Ramesh, Goverdhan, Lokesh and Narasimhamurthy were standing infront of a store opposite Ravikumar’s house. The conflict arouse on the Saree distribution issue. Lokesh pulled out a machete from the provision store and chopped off the left arm of Ravikumar and injured the others.
According to the police, Ravikumar went to defend himself by blocking with his left hand when Lokesh was attacking. The blow was so intense that it chopped his arm below the elbow.
Ravikumar was immediately taken to Bengaluru for further treatment.
Manchenalli police have filed a case against Ramesh, Goverdhan, Lokesh and Narasimhamurthy. The accused are all absconding.
