Mangaluru: A video of Jharkhand police mock drill was being widely circulated on social media claiming it to be footage of the police firing incident in Mangaluru on November 19.
On November 19, two persons lost their lives in police firing after protests against Citizenship Amendment Act took a violent turn in Mangaluru.
Soon after the incident, the video of the mock drill, that had taken place in the year 2017 was circulated with a message, “The wrongful district administration is responsible for Mangaluru violence. The situation had not escalated so much that shots had to be fired. Let them deploy honest police officers. There has to be a high level probe into what happened today. People should also be sensitive and maintain peace in the district.”
In the video, armed police personnel can be seen kneeling on the ground, holding rifles and shooting at a few people standing across the road. Shots are fired, and the crowd around disperses as two people fall down. Then, stretchers are brought and the one who fell are taken away in an ambulance that appears immediately.
Notably this particular was circulated earlier in August this year, following the abolition of Article 370, saying that this is how the army was shooting at Kashmiri protesters.
