J&K: Two trekkers killed after falling into crevice

Srinagar: Two trekkers have died after falling into a crevice at a health resort of Pahalgam in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir Friday, officials said.

A group of trekkers had gone to the Kolahai glacier at Pahalgam in south Kashmir district and on their way back, two of them fell into the crevice, the officials said.

Junior scale Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) officer identified as Naveed Jeelani and Adil Shah of Alpine group were killed in the fall while a third trekker identified as Hazik was injured, the officials said.

They said a rescue operation was launched and the state government has sought help from air force and the army.
