Mangaluru: In a heart-warming incident, a man decided to brave the odds and return to his home at Jodupale to ensure the safety of his pet dog.

The man, Nithin, a resident of Jodupale had, on Saturday, decided to move out of his house in the backdrop of the landslides occurring in the region. However, the family had reportedly forgotten to take their pet dog with them while moving to a safer terrain in Madikeri.

It was only in the evening that he realized that they had left their pet dog behind and decided that he needed to go back and fetch him to ensure his safety. Thus, on Sunday morning, Nithin embarked on the 14-kilometer walk back home, despite the difficult terrain, considering the debris accumulated on the roads due to the landslides as well as the incessant rains lashing the region.

When Nithin finally reached his house in the afternoon, the dog’s happiness at seeing his owner was evident as it excitedly ran towards him and kept wagging its tail.

Nithin was aided by the NDRF personnel who helped him and his dog to cross a road, inundated with water. Later, Nithin drove with his dog for the remainder of the journey to his home.
