Los Angeles: “Game Night” helmers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are in talks to tackle “Dungeons & Dragons” adaptation for Paramount.
The long-gestating film, based on a Hasbro game of the same name, previously had “Lego Batman” director Chris McKay attached as a director.
However, he has since left the film and is now working on Chris Pratt-starrer “Ghost Draft”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
At one point, “Baby Driver” star Ansel Elgort was set to star in the film, which was green lighted by Warner Bros.
But over the years, the project has shifted base from Warner Bros to Paramount, which has a production and distribution deal with Hasbro.
If finalised, Goldstein and Daley will direct the film from a screenplay by Michael Gilio. Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis are producing for AllSpark Pictures.
“Dungeons & Dragons”, which became popular through the late 1970s and 1980s as a board game, was previously adapted for the big screen in 2000.
The film, starring Jeremy Irons, Thora Birch, Bruce Payne and Marlon Wayans, received lukewarm reception upon its release.
