Jr student assaulted by hostel warden, senior students for opposing harassment

Kundapur: A female student of Canara ECR College, near Koteshwar in Kundapur was assaulted by hostel warden and senior female students allegedly for opposing their harassment.

The student identified as Jyotsna, 20, a native of Andhra Pradesh has been admitted to a private hospital at Koteshwar. She was allegedly assaulted by the hostel warden Anisha and third year BCA students – Malu Karishma, Ateemule, Arya and Sanu – since she had, in a letter written to the college chairman, complained about the daily harassment the junior students were being subjected to at their hands.

The chairman had reportedly assured to investigate the matter and speak to the parents of the senior students. Angered by this, the warden and the senior students on Monday, November 5 night assaulted Jyotsna in her hostel room. 

A case has been registered with Kundapur police and investigations are on.
