K Gangadhar Gowda to join Congress today

Beltangady: Former minister K Gangadhar Gowda will be joining the Congress party here today.

Gowda, was elected as MLA in 1978. He is known for his initiatives of providing monthly pensions to farmers who participated in Kambala. He has helped several people and distributed title deeds to poor people under land reform.

He was active in BJP for the past few years. In the 2013 Karnataka assembly elections, Gangadhar Gowda’s son, Ranjan G Gowda contested on BJP ticket and got 59,000 votes, which is highest in the history of BJP in Beltangady.

Gowda will be joining Congress party formally in the presence of D K Shivakumar, Oommen Chandy, K Harish Kumar, B Ramanath Rai, K Vasantha Bangera.
