Sullia: A few pots and clay implements, believed to be ancient in origin, were discovered in an underground cave at Kallembi in Edamangala village of Kadaba taluk.

The tools were found in the land belonging to Kallembi Vishwanath Gowda where a hole was being dug for planting a tree sapling.

During the work, a part of the earth collapsed revealing a cave-like structure. When it was closely observed, the remains of earthen pots, bowls, and small utensils were found. The cave appears to have two separate chambers.

It is suspected that the cave might be of ancient origin. The cave structure and tools recovered are being studied by a team led by archeologist Prof T Murugeshi of MSRS College, Shirva in Udupi. A complete picture of their origin will only come to light after a thorough scientific examination, he told Udayavani.
