Kadaba: An elderly couple in Kaukradi here has written to the President of India pleading for euthanasia, after receiving an eviction notice to vacate from the government land.

Radhamma and Muthuswamy, natives of Chitradurga, who have been living in a shanty constructed on government land for six years, are facing eviction following a court order. They worked as wage laborers, supporting themselves by raising cattle.

Despite possessing documents such as Aadhaar, Ration Card, and Voter ID, the couple is without alternative accommodations and basic amenities, such as access to a drinking water connection. Revenue officials had reportedly rejected their application for a title deed to the land about two years ago.

The couple says that their daughter received the eviction notice, although she has no connection to their home.

The couple, with no other shelter, appealed to the President of India via the Kadaba Tehsildar for mercy or a chance to move to government housing.

Prabhakar Khajure, the Tehsildar, promised to investigate and assist the couple, recognizing their dire situation.
