Kadaba: A BJP leader from here drowned in the Shambhavi river while on a picnic with four of his friends on Thursday, December 31.

The deceased, Jayarama Gowda (49), is a resident of Kadaba’s Pijakal Artil.

On Thursday, Gowda, his son and four of his friends went for a picnic. All five of them entered the water and soon the flow of the water increased.

Seeing the five of them drowning in the tide, fishermen and a surfing team nearby were successful in rescuing four of them in the water including Gowda’s son but could not rescue Gowda.

Mulki police station Inspector Kusumadhar arrived at the spot and later registered a case.
