Kadaba: Police bust furnace oil stealing gang, arrest 6

Kadaba: Four persons were arrested in Mankagundi in Koukrady village in the taluk here on charges of stealing furnace oil from tanker trucks.

A raid was carried out by a team comprising of Kadapa tehsildar, Puttur and Uppinangady police officials and a geologist from the Mines and Geology Department.

The arrested have been identified as Raghunathan, Muthu Pandi, G Das, Singaraja, S Karthi and Selvaraj.

The gang’s operation involved making a deal with drivers of tanker trucks that ply on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru route, taking the truck to their place with an underground tank and stealing about 50 to 200 litres of furnace oil from the tanker truck.

The gang then usually sold the stolen furnace oil in and around Chennai.

About Rs 35.21 lakh worth of assets were seized from the gang.
