Kadaba: A police constable who has been booked under the POSCO Act for alleged sexual exploitation of a minor rape survivor has been suspended from service.
The accused, Shivaraj, attached to Kadaba police station, was arrested after the victim’s father lodged a complaint in this connection with Kadaba police station. He was produced in the court on Tuesday, September 28.
The complaint states that Shivraj came into contact with the victim when she had approached Kadaba police to file a rape case around two years ago. Later, Shivraj began visiting their house on the pretext of issuing summons. It is alleged that Shivraj established physical relations with the girl after promising marriage. The incident came to light when the victim was five-and-a-half months pregnant.
Taking cognizance of the seriousness of the case, Western range inspector general of police (IGP), Devajyoti Ray on Tuesday visited the Kadaba police station and interrogated Shivaraj. He said that the current location of the affected girl and her mother have been traced.
District superintendent of police, Rishikesh Sonawane informed that further action will be initiated against the accused after a thorough investigation.
