Mangaluru: The musical fountain and laser show at Kadri deer park will be stopped from Monday until the end of the monsoon.

The laser show at Kadri park is conducted in an open air arena. Because of this, no roof facility has been provided to the tourists here during the rainy season. Besides, it is not possible to install a roof now at the location where the musical fountain is conducted. Hence the show has been cancelled since June 17th. Last year, since the monsoon had entered the district during the first week of the month, the laser show here was stopped on June 7th itself.

Include additional themes

In the current, the number of tourists visiting the musical fountain is increasing by the day. Already, the musical fountain shows being presented here are in the themes of Tulu Nadu’s culture, tradition, celebration along with coastal culture. However, this is the only show which is being shown here since the beginning. The tourists are already demanding for the inclusion of additional themes.

Speaking with ‘Udayavani’, a Horticulture Department official said, there is already a committee in place under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner, and his attention has been brought towards changing the theme of the musical fountain show. The department has come forward to include additional themes here in the coming day.

Drop in prices

The number of tourists to the musical fountain at Kadri Park is increasing in the recent days. The entry fee for the musical fountain had been reduced. Earlier the entry cost was Rs 50 and Rs 25 for adults and children, but in the revised rates, it has been reduced to Rs 30 and Rs 15 respectively.

Even though the musical fountain at Kadri has been stopped due to the monsoon, the number of visitors to the park is as per usual. Entry fee for the park has been recently decided and it is Rs 10 and Rs 5 for adults and children respectively.

According to the stats provided by the horticulture department, around 12,098 adults and 2,717 children have viewed the musical fountain and laser show from October to June this year. On the whole, around 14,815 people have viewed the show and about Rs 7,60,830 has been collected in fees in a span of 7 months.

Will be discussed during the meeting

“The musical fountain at Kadri has been stopped since last Monday until the termination of the monsoon season. There is a demand from the tourists for the addition of more themes to the show in the near future. A discussion regarding this will be held during the committee meeting,” informed Janaki, Senior Assistant, Horticulture Department

The deer park will remain open

Although the musical fountain at Kadri park has been stopped due to the monsoon, the park shall remain open for the tourists. The entry fee for the park is Rs 10 and Rs 5 for adults and children respectively.
