Kalaburagi: GP president hacked to death in broad daylight

Kalaburagi: A village panchayat president was brutally murdered in broad daylight in front of Choudapur bus stand in Afazalpur taluk on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Goudappa Biradar (46), the panchayat president of Madara B village in Afazalpur taluk was killed.
The unidentified miscreants in a vehicle arrived a the bus stop and hacked Biradar to death with weapons, right in front of hundreds of people.
It is gathered that Goudappa Biradar, who has been elected as a member of the Gram Panchayat four times, was recently chosen as the President of the Gram Panchayat. He had just arrived at the bus stop from his village when the attack took place.
The brutal murder in broad daylight has sent shivers through the community.
It is gathered that Biradar died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. The body has been sent to GIMS in Kalaburagi for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has alleged an old feud between two families as the motive behind the murder. Whereas, Afzalpur MLA M Y Patil alleged the attack to be politically motivated.
A case has been registered at the Deval Gangapur police station in Afazalpur taluk.
