Kalaburagi: Six notorious inmates, including suspected terrorist Zulfikar, transferred from jail

In a decisive move to restore order, six notorious inmates, including suspected terrorist Zulfikar, linked to the 2013 Malleswaram bomb blast, were transferred from Kalaburagi Central Jail to other state prisons. The government initiated these transfers following months of disruption and allegations of illegal activities within the prison.
With approval from the NIA court, Zulfikar was shifted to another facility, while rowdy sheeter Shivamogga Bachan and Abdul Khader Jilani were moved to Dharwad Central Jail. Sheikh Saddam Hussain and Zakir Haneef were transferred to Shivamogga Central Jail, and Vishal Vijaykumar Rathod was relocated to Ballari Central Jail.
Reports suggest these inmates had created a volatile atmosphere in Kalaburagi Jail. They allegedly manipulated both prison staff and other inmates to further their personal agendas. Unrestricted supplies of contraband, including gutka, cigarettes, and drugs, were reportedly smuggled in under their influence.
Recently, a protest by inmates demanding access to these items underscored the extent of the issue. Adding to the chaos, the notorious inmates were reportedly blackmailing prison officials with compromising videos, ensuring a lavish lifestyle behind bars.
The arrival of Dr. Anita as the new jailer marked a turning point. She implemented strict measures to clamp down on illegal activities, disrupting the inmates’ operations. This led to unrest among the inmates and even threats against the jailer, including warnings of financial blackmail and car explosions.
Despite these challenges, Dr. Anita, with the support of senior officials, sought permission from the NIA court to relocate the troublemakers. The transfers are seen as a message that the prison administration will not bow to pressure from rogue inmates.
The transfers have been welcomed by the public, who hope this will restore order within Kalaburagi Jail. The action sends a strong signal about the commitment to law and order, reinforcing that prison systems will not tolerate misconduct.
