Kalaburagi : Three children drown in water pit

Kalaburagi: Three children drowned in water pit at Mahalakshmi layout, when they went to play on Wednesday afternoon.

The victims identified as Vignesh (11), Prashant (11) and Darshan (12), are residents of Brahmapur area.

The children went to play near Vivekananda College ground at Mahalakshmi Layout, where construction work was going on.

The three children fell into an open pit that was filled with water owing to the heavy rain on Tuesday night. The locals called the firefighters immediately and reported the matter. It is learned that the children died as the firefighters came and tried to rescue them.

The bodies were shifted to the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital for post-mortem examination. Parents and relatives of children gathered near the hospital.

A case has been registered at the RG Nagar police station.
