Kalburgi: 5 police officials suspended after marijuana found near station

Kalburgi: Five policemen at the Kalagi taluk in the district here, including an inspector, have been suspended after marijuana worth crores of rupees were recovered from a goat farm about 1.5 kilometres from the police station.

About 1,200 kilograms of marijuana was recovered from the goat farm owned by Lakshman Nayak Tanda by police officials from Bengaluru recently. The prime suspect, Chandrakant, was also taken to Bengaluru.

Inspector Bhojaraj Rathod, Sub Inspector Basavaraja Chitkote, ASI Neelakanthappa Hebbala and constables Sharanappa and Anil Bhandari of the Kalagi police station have been suspended by SP Dr Simi Mariam George for gross negligence of duty.
