Manipal: The director of the grand pan-India film ‘Kalki-2898’, Nag Ashwin, attended a special screening at Manipal Bharat Cinemas and interacted with the audience.

The screening was organized by Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC). The audience was thrilled to see the director in person. After the film, Nag Ashwin, an alumnus of MIC, shared his memories of his educational journey.

“Revisiting Manipal has brought back memories of my academic life. Endpoint in Manipal was my favorite spot, but I recently learned that visits there are restricted due to increased leopard activity,” he said.

During his days at MIC, he made short films but never had the courage to showcase them. “Today, standing before you with a big success, I attribute my inspiration to the days spent in Manipal,” he added. He answered students’ questions about the film. MAHE Pro-Chancellor Dr. H. S. Ballal, Indira Ballal, MIC Director Dr. Padmarani, and others participated in the event.

Nag Ashwin pursued a journalism degree at MIC from 2001 to 2004 before working in the Telugu film industry for a few years. He has delivered superhit films like ‘Mahanati’ and ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ and has now made a significant mark in the Indian film industry with ‘Kalki’. The film takes characters from the Mahabharata and places them in a futuristic setting.
