Mangaluru: Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje clarified that she hadn’t tweeted anything on Nishanth’s suicide case and blamed ‘jihadi Congress’ role in spreading false information.

Hours after a Nishanth from Kalladka jumped into Nethravathi river was rescued by a group of Muslim youth, a tweet from a parody account of BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje went viral.

In the controversial tweet made in the name of Shobha Karandlaje, it was alleged that jihadis’ had killed a Hindu activist named Nishanth and had requested Amit Shah to take action against the culprits.

MLA U T Khader reacted to the controversial tweet and demanded clarification.

Responding to Khader’s tweet Shobha wrote, “Not even an ounce of sancity left in Congress!! At any cost they want the communities in the society to be divided. MLA UT Khader tweets an edited tweet in my name with a motive of disturbing social harmony. Asked City Police Commissioner Harsah to book charges against fake news peddlers.”

Nishanth (28) had committed suicide by jumping into River Nethravathi at Panemangaluru, in Bantwal on Sunday, May 24.

A group of youths – Shamir, Mohammed, Tausif, Zahid, Jayeed, Muqtar, and Arif – who were nearby, jumped into the river to rescue him. After the youths brought him to the banks of the river, he was given first aid and was taken to the government hospital in Bantwal, where he was declared dead.
