Padubidri: The 24 Kambala sport meets held across Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kasaragod districts for the 2023-24 season have not received the promised grant of Rs 5 lakh each from the government. In response, an emergency consultation meeting has been scheduled for June 16 at 3 PM at the Samaj Mandir in Mudubidiri.

The District Kambala Committee had formally requested the grants from the government. However, their request has not been addressed. This lack of response has prompted the need for urgent discussions among the Kambala organizers.

The office bearers of the Kambala committees have urged all Jodukare Kambala managers from the Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kasaragod districts to attend the meeting. The primary agenda will be to discuss the next steps in securing the funds necessary for conducting the traditional buffalo race events.
