Kambala unites Tulunadu, spreading joy and harmony, says Sri Subudhendra Theertha Swamiji

The Kambala events have united people, fostering a vibrant celebratory atmosphere – spreading joy, culture, and harmony throughout Tulunadu, opined Sri Subudhendra Theertha Swamiji of Sri Raghavendra Swami Matha of Mantralaya on Saturday.

The seer was speaking during the Rama-Lakshmana Jodukare Kambala Organised under the leadership of Capt Brijesh Chowta at Goldfinch City, Mangaluru. He expressed happiness over the popularity of this sport from Tulunad, now recognized as a social and cultural festival in the state.

On this occasion, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha National President and MP Tejasvi Surya regarded the Kambala as a symbol honoring the bravery, courage, and strength of the youth. He highlighted its spread to Bengaluru, signifying the continuity of culture.

K. Prakash Shetty, the Kambala’s Honorary Chairman and CMD of MRG Group, presided over the event.

Several dignitaries including MLA Harish Poonja, Legislative Council Members Manjunath Bhandari and S L Bhoje Gowda, Udupi District BJP President Kuilady Suresh Nayak, Former Member of National Commission for Women Shyamala Kunder, KPCC General Secretary Mithun Rai, Former MLAs Shakuntala Shetty and Prabhakar Bangera, Administrative Director of MRG Group Gaurav Shetty, Vice-Chancellor of Nitte varsity Vishal Hegde, BJP Yuva Morcha National Treasurer Sai Prasad, Kudroli Kshetra Treasurer Padmaraj R., along with other notable figures such as Ravi Shankar Mijar, Yakshadhruva Patla Satish Shetty, Vikas Puttur, and Upendra Shetty, were in attendance.

Capt Brijesh Chowta welcomed the gathering. As many as 170 pairs of buffalos competed in the Manglauru Kambala.
