Kancheepuram: Woman crushed to death between lorry and govt bus

Kancheepuram: In a fatal incident a 28-year-old teacher was reportedly crushed between a lorry and the bus she was attempting to board on Tuesday, Feb 5. The incident came to light on Friday, Feb 8 after CCTV footage of the accident was released and is currently doing rounds on social media.
The deceased is identified as Sophia, a native of Nelvai near Uthiramerur, who was working as a private school teacher in Chengalpattu.
It is gathered that the accident took place on Tuesday shortly after her husband Robin dropped her at the bus stop as usual. As Robin turned his bike a lorry drove up from a side road and knocked him off his bike and later went on to hit the side of a government bus crushing Sophia who was waiting to board the bus.
While Robin was thrown off the bike, the lorry went on to hit the side of the bus which Sofia was trying to board, crushing her. The people rushed Sofia and Robin to the government hospital in Chengalpattu but she was declared brought dead.
Meanwhile, the public nabbed the driver and handed him over to the police, but he still managed to escape.
However, the driver is expected to surrender at the police station on Friday as the video has now gone viral, said the sources.
