Kandlur: Illegal sand mining den raided

4 arrested, 4 escape, 2 pick-up, I omni seized
Kundapur: An illegal sand mining den near Varahi lake in Kavradi village was raided by Kundpaur rural police on Sunday March 17th. The raid was conducted under the leadership of Kundapur rural police station sub-inspector Sridhar Naik and staff after receiving credible information of the illegal activity.
During the raid the police arrested four accused while four other accused at the location made good their escape. The arrested have been identified as Nisar Ahmed(32), Khalifa Khalid (30), Khalifa Khureshi(46) and Harish(48). The suspects who fled are identified as Karani Bilal, Sameer, Afan and Mutayib. The police also seized two pick up vehicles, a Maruti Omni car, boats, 3 unit sand, mobiles and Rs 37,000 in cash.
Visit from DC, SP
It is being said that the DC Hephsiba Rani Korlapati and SP Nisha James had visited Kandlur on March 14th in connection to the issue of illegal sand mining.
Same location where DC, AC were attacked
This is the very location which gained state level notoriety almost two years back, when the then DC and AC were attacked here. On Apr 2nd 2017, the then DC Priyanaka Mary Francis, Kundapur Sub Divisional Officer Shilpa Nag, Ampar Village Accountant Kantaraju and other officials raided the illegal sand mining den here. During the raid, the officials were attacked by the men indulging in the illegal activity there. Later, there was a fall in illegal sand mining here, now it has again started.
