Mangaluru: Hindu activists led by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) held a protest in the city in connection with the suicide of a minor girl in Kanyana Village in Kaniyuru.

VHP activists alleged the death to be a case of “love jihad” and demanded an independent investigation into the matter.

It may be recalled that a class-10 student was found hanging on Wednesday at the rented house her family lived at Kaniyuru in Kanyana village.

Her father Sanjeeva, in his complaint, had accused Shahul Hamid alias Kutta of abetting her suicide. Based on the complaint, police arrested Kutta a day later.
