Kannada Day: ‘Learn 100 Kannada words’ says Min. Sunil Kumar to non-Kannadigas

Bengaluru: Minister for Kannada and Culture V Sunil Kumar called on the non-Kannada speaking people in the state to learn at least 100 Kannada words this Karnataka Rajyotsava.
People who have come and reside in the state from elsewhere should learn and use the local language, he said.
Speaking to reporters about the preparations for the upcoming Kannada Rajyotsava on November 1, the minister said that the celebrations will start early this year. A special 7-day event ‘Mathad Mathad Kannada’ (Speak Speak Kannada) will be organised from October 24, he said.
He said six different programmes will be held in seven days of the event to encourage the use of the language in the state. “Let us all resolve to speak and use Kannada effectively,” he added.
About 4500 applications have been received so for the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award this year he said, adding that the final list of awardees will be released on October 28 or 29.
