Bengaluru: Noted Kannada poet, Doddarange Gowda on Wednesday issued an unconditional public apology after he stated that everyone must respect Hindi, as it is “a national language”.
In a single page handwritten note, he wrote. “I never intended to carry Hindi on my head at the cost of Kannada. I am a devoted-worshipper of the Kannada language from the bottom of my heart. I carry Kannada on my head and not any other language”
He faced heavy backlash from people of Karnataka after in an interview he asserted that if foreign English language is accepted by Kannadigas, then why can’t they accept Hindi?
