Kannada writer, rationalist KS Bhagawan hospitalized

Mysuru: Kannada writer and rationalist KS Bhagawan was hospitalized on Friday, May 17 after suffering heart failure during his evening walk at a park near his home at Kuvempunagar in the city.
As per the sources, Bhagawan was addmitted to the hospital by his gunman at 6:30 in the evening.
Speaking on the issue, Dr SP Yoganna, Chairman of Suyog hospital said that Bhagawan was brought to the hospital with heart failure due to a condition termed sick sinus syndrome which affects one’s heart rhythm.
He further added, ” We revived him by installing a temporary pacemaker.”
However, the writer is out of danger now and will receive a permanent pacemaker today.
Bhagawan had also suffered minor injuries to his head, face and legs during the collapse.
Seventy-year-old Bhagwan, a retired English professor in Mysuru, is a recipient of many awards including the Karnataka Rajyotsava award.
It may be recalled that the writer speech on Hinduism and Hindu gods had come under vicious attacks from fringe rightwing outfits, prompting police to provide security to Bhagawan.
