Kapu: A man was injured after a tourist car and a state-run KSRTC Volvo bus collided near Dandatheertha in Uliyaragoli on National Highway 66 on Wednesday morning. The bus rear-ended the car moving from Udupi towards Kapu.

The injured has been identified as Masthappa, a native of Bhatkal.

Some passengers on the Volvo bus moving from Bhatkal to Mangaluru got down at Udupi. However, soon they realized they were missing a valuable item.

They hired a car from the tourist car stand to chase after the bus and managed to track it down near Dandatheertha School. The car allegedly moved in front of the bus to flag it down. However, the bus driver could not come to a stop in time and rear-ended the car.

Meanwhile, the injured person has been admitted to a hospital in Udupi.

Kapu police visited the accident scene and are investigating the matter.
