Kapu: Unidentified persons posing as customers allegedly fled with Rs 6 lakhs cash of a general store owner here on Thursday night.

Raghavendra Kini, the proprietor of Mahalasa Traders, has reported the robbery to the Kapu police station.

The complainant said, he had kept the Rs 6 lakh in cash accumulated from the previous 3-4 days’ business in his scooter. When he had gone to lock the shop, the thieves punctured the scooter tyres and stole the cash kept in the compartment.

The complaint alleged the robbery was the handiwork of strangers who arrived at the shop during closing hours.

Following the complaint, Kapu police, along with forensic experts and a dog squad, arrived at the crime scene for investigation.

It is suspected that 3-4 persons may be involved in the crime. CCTV footage of the store and the surroundings is being examined.
