Kapu: The tragic death of a young woman in a road accident took a new turn after the complaint alleged that the accident was caused by a bus moving towards Mangaluru.
It may be recalled that Roshni D’souza (26) of Jeppu Patla in Mangaluru was killed after the two-wheeler she was riding pillion toppled at Katapadi on National Highway 66 on Monday evening. While her fiance Joel D’costa, who was riding the vehicle, escaped with minor injuries.
Some media outlets had blamed the accident was caused by the absence of signage warning about the presence of barricades put up for highway repair work.
However, Joel, in his complaint to the Kapu police, has claimed that a bus caused the accident. He and Roshni were returning to Mangaluru after visiting Kalmadi Church when the accident took place. A bus moving towards Mangaluru from Udupi suddenly veered to the left from the right lane and brushed against the two-wheeler. As a result, the rider lost control and hit the barricade, and fell onto the road.
Roshni who was seriously injured died on the way to the hospital.
Based on the complaint, kapu police have registered a case and are investigating.
