Gurupura: Man serious after falling into pond

Kaikamba: A man who went fishing at the pond near Gurupura Shri Sadashiva Temple accidentall fell into it and has been battling life and death at a hospital on Friday.

Praveen (45) of Kottari Gudde had been to the pond with his friend Greshan. While fishing he got caught in the fishing net and started drowning. He was rushed to the hospital in Mangaluru where he is being treated.

Kumble Murder: Three more arrested

Kumble: Kerala SIT arrested 3 more accused in the sensational abduction and murder of Abubakar Siddique of Puthige Mugu road.

The arrested accused have been identified as Riyaz Hasan (33) of Udyavara in Manjeshwar, Razak (46) of Uppala, and Kunjathur Abubakar Siddique (36). The arrested were not directly involved in the murder that allegedly took place over a foreign currency racket.

With this, the total arrests in the case have risen to 5.

The hunt for the accused is on, police said.

Labourer dies after being hit by car

Mangaluru:  A daily wage laborer who had been injured after being hit by a car near Kottara Chowki died on Friday. Bagalkote-native Manjunath (42) had been injured while crossing the NH66 near Kottara Chowki on Wednesday night after a car moving from Kulur rammed into him. He died without responding to treatment. Mangaluru North Traffic police have registered a case in this regard.

Man dies in fall

Udupi: An elderly man who had been injured after slipping and falling, died. The deceased, identified as Ramesh (62) of Manipal, had gone out to pick the coconut that had fallen in the courtyard when he slipped and hurt his head.

He was rushed to a private hospital and was later shifted to a Government hospital in Ajjarakad. However, doctors attending declared him dead. A case has been registered in Manipal police station in this regard.
