Karavali coast preps for grand Ganesha Chaturthi celebrations

Mangaluru/Udupi: Preparations are in full swing across the coastal area for the celebration of Ganesha Chaturthi festivities. As per the Hindu almanac, Gowri Festival is being celebrated on Monday while Ganesha Chaturthi will be observed on Tuesday.
Ganesha idols have been prepared and preparations are underway for the installation of the idols in public places. Grand Ganeshotsava celebrations rea being planned at various places in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kasaragod, and Kodagu districts. Ganeshotsava Committees are engaged in various preparations including construction of celebration pendals.
With the festive shopping picking up, business activity has picked up pace. Flowers and sugarcanes were being sold at various places all over GUdupi and Dakshina Kannada.
Prohibition on liquor sale
Udupi: In order to maintain law and order and public peace on the occasion of Chauthi, Usupi Deputy Commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari has ordered a district-wide ban on liquor sales on September 19. Additionally, liquor will not be sold on September 21 and September 23 in Udupi City limits. The move comes on the recommendation of the District Superintendent of Police.
