Karavali gets rainfall, more likely in two days due to Cyclone Gaja

- Lightning strike kills one woman, injures another
Mangaluru: Karnataka’s coast felt the effect of the Cyclone Gaja and as a result a number of places in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts received good rainfall on Sunday evening.
A woman lost her life after being struck by a lightning in Arashinageri village of Mundagod taluk, Uttara Kannada district. The victim is identified as Laxmavva Hemlappa Lamani (60). She was working in the fields when the tragedy struck. Another woman, Gowramma Tippanna Lamani, was injured in this incident.
The rainfall destroyed standing paddy crops over thousands of acres of land in Uttara Kannada and Ballari districts. Also a number of places have been experiencing cloudy weather coupled with light drizzle and strong wind.
A meteorological department release stated that the coastal districts and a few places in southern interior and northern interior Karnataka may get rains and thunder for a couple of more days.
