Udupi: With the work on four-laning the national highway 66 progressing slowly and following several requests and protests, the over bridge and under pass near Karaval Junction was finally opened for traffic on Friday, October 26th.
Of the two under passes here, only one has been opened for the traffic. Hence, it has become convenient for the vehicles moving from Udupi city to Malpe and Kundapur and vehicles moving from Malpe towards Kundapur and Udupi city. The present existing facility will be continued for the vehicles moving from Kundapur to Padubidri and Udupi city and for vehicle moving from Udupi city to Padubidri.
As the over bridge has been opened for vehicular passage, the traffic density along the service road has reduced. Hence, only the vehicles proceeding into the city need come through the service roads.
If the other underpass is also opened for the traffic soon, the vehicle density will be reduced and it will become more convenient for comfortable travel.
