- Mike fails at a programme in Kadri Park
Mangaluru: As part of Karavali Utsav, a cultural programme was held at Karavali Maidan on Monday. However it soon faced a setback as there was a power failure while the programme was being conducted. Similarly on Tuesday, a music programme was being held at Kadri Park in the evening when all of a sudden, the audio system malfunctioned which caused unnecessary inconvenience to the artists as well as the audience.
It’s been five days since Karvali Utsav has been inaugurated, but instead of glowing bright, the festival is apparently being plagued with setbacks, which is surprising indeed.
Audience climb sat at the stage instead!
During the carnatic music programme being held at Kadri Park by Vidvan S Shankar on Tuesday, the mike system failed. This caused much inconvenience to the audience. No matter how hard the programme organizers tried to rectify the problem it did not get solved immediately. Hence, the artists on the stage continued the music show without the help of the audio system. On the other hand, the audiences were unable to listen to the music due to the malfunctioning audio system. Finally, some music lovers amongst the audience climbed on to the stage and sat at the corner of the stage to listen and enjoy the show. In this way, the programme continued for at least half-an-hour without the speaker system after which the organizers were able to rectify the issue.
Bike headlight, mobile torch
On Monday, a folk song programme was being held by Ram Das and team on behalf of the Ranga Sangati Cultural Foundation. Several people were witness the programme. All of a sudden the generator malfunctioned due to which there was no power supply to the stage for about 20 mins. During this time, a member of the team focused the headlight of a bike and the cellphone torch on to the stage. Later, bowing to the demands of the audience, the programe was started. The artists sang around 6-7 songs without any power supply. After the generator was rectified, the programme continued without any hindrances.
Protest
On the first day, during the inauguration of Karavali Utsav itself, there was a surprise protest held on the stage. A team of protestors against MRPL displayed a banner titled, ‘Save Karavali, Stop MRPL expansion’ and the protest caused much confusion. Also, at the exhibition being held in connection to the Utsav, a few shops have failed to open which has made the public unhappy.
Open all shops immediately
A few of the shops have failed to open at the exhibition being held at Karavali grounds due to technical reasons. The concerned people have been contacted and have been informed to open all the shops for the benefit of the customers, said MCC Mayor Bhaskar M
Have asked to rectify
“The technical problem caused in the Karavali Utsav cultural programme by the contractors has come to my notice. I have directed them to rectify it,” said U T Khader, district in-charge minister
