Karkala: Elderly couple commit suicide by consuming poison

Karkala: Beset with personal problems, an elderly couple committed suicide by consuming poison at their house in Havaldar bettu on May 31.

The deceased are identified as K P Anantha Prabhu (84) who was an employee of Canara bank and after retirement had opened a crockery shop, his K P Padma Prabhu (82).  The couple weree admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru, but they died on June 1.

It is said that the reason for the couple to take this extreme step was Padma Prabhu’s health, as it was deteriorating day by day.

They have two sons, one of them is serving as a colonel in the Indian Army.
